About the new Team
Gavin Page (helm) and Luke Whyburd (crew), are both Dabchicks Sailing Club members, have an impressive sailing history behind them, and have a passion for sailing.

Gavin learnt to sail in an Optimist, going on to compete in local and National events. Then he had an opportunity to crew in a RS Feva at the Worlds and came a respectable 4th place. Then he switched to a Topper and qualified for RYA Zone squad, followed by RYA National Squad last year and competed in the 2010 Nationals and Worlds.

Luke also learnt to sail in an Optimist, going on to compete in local and National events. Then he switched to a Topper and qualified for RYA Zone squad. Luke quickly out grow the Topper and switched to a Laser Radial and then the standard Rig

The Old Team

Gavin Page (helm) and Thomas Scott (Sept 2010 to Aug 2011) following a reasonable showing at 2011 UK Nationals, Tom decided to follow a single handed Laser route and leave the Team

Thomas learnt to sail in a Mirror and then switched to a Topper and like Gavin qualified for RYA Zone squad, followed by RYA National Squad last year and competed in the 2010 Nationals and Worlds.

In Topper National squad Gavin and Tom became friends, living within 20 minutes they trained together and often travelled to events with one another’s family. After competing in the Topper Worlds Lake Garda they switched to a 29er in September 2010. Then after a lot of hard work and dedication, in a short time frame, they achieved their goal, a place in the 2011 RYA Transition Squad. View the journey
